Rosendale - Robert E. La Fera, 79, a former longtime resident of Rosendale died Monday May 21, 2018 at ArchCare at Fernclliff in Rhinebeck.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 12, 1939 a son of the late Joseph and Assunta La Fera of Rosendale, N.Y.
Robert was a volunteer fireman in Rosendale and a life member of Active Hose #1 for over 50 years. He loved helping his community, friends and family.
He spent the majority of his life at the family homestead in the Lawrenceville area Rosendale helping his parents.
He was an usher in St. Peter's Church for many years and worked at Gateway Industries.
He resided his later years at ArchCare at Ferncliff in Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Robert also loved baseball, was a die-hard Met fan and always helped with the Rondout Valley Little League
in his younger days.
Robert is survived by his 4 siblings Lydia La Fera-Baluch, A. Donald and Elizabeth La Fera,
Leonard and Maryanne La Fera, and Vincent and Sharon La Fera.
Also surviving is his sister-in-law Marguerite La Fera.
Bobby leaves many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, friends and
especially his extended family at ArchCare in Rhinebeck. All loved him in life and will miss him dearly. Robert is predeceased by his loving brother Joseph V. La Fera who died January 2, 2018. Joe-Joe was his mentor throughout their lives.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday May 30 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 AM and will include a time of sharing memories of a great individual.
Burial will follow at St Peter's Cemetery, Rosendale. In lieu of flowers we ask contributions be made to the Rosendale Fire Department, PO Box 174, Rosendale, NY 12472.
